Why you need it
Furniture, appliances, and courses are sold on “in-store installments,” with the schedule drawn on the back of the contract. By the third month the salesperson no longer remembers who pays on the fifth and who on the fifteenth, and a missed payment is noticed when the buyer has already disappeared.
An installment sale builds the payment schedule automatically, and every payment settles the nearest one due. Today’s overdue list, a reminder email to the customer, and the outstanding balance on each contract are all visible without spreadsheets.
