Why you need it
A metalworking shop has fifty orders running, and the foreman remembers which is at bending and which is waiting for painting. The customer is promised a date at a guess, and workers are paid by paper job tickets nobody checks.
An order follows a route of operations across work areas, the worker marks completed operations, and work area workload is visible a week ahead. Piecework earnings and the due date for every order are calculated from the same marks.
