Why you need it
The salesperson gives a regular customer a discount by eye, the cards are paper, and nobody knows how many people came back a second time. Promotions get launched, and their effect is judged by gut feeling.
Every purchase earns the customer points by the rule for their tier, and redeeming them reduces the balance — just like an account. You can see who hasn’t been in for a while, how many points are outstanding as a liability, and how promotions are performing.
