Why you need it
The water delivery service brought a customer three bottles and took one back, and six months later the customer “never had” eight of them. A brewery loses kegs the same way, and the pallet supplier bills for the ones not returned.
Every shipment and return moves packaging on the customer’s account, and what they’re holding is visible as of any date. Deposits and invoicing for lost packaging come from the same figures.
